Businessman Obi Cubana has issued a direct appeal to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, calling for urgent intervention to secure the release of the detained IPOB leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
In a message shared on his social media pages, the entrepreneur stressed that true peace and stability in Igboland cannot be achieved while Kanu remains in detention. He described the current security climate in the country as deeply troubling, citing Nigeria’s recent designation by the United States as a “Country of Particular Concern,” widespread abductions of students, attacks on worship centres, the killing of a Brigadier General, and the life sentence handed to Kanu.
Obi Cubana revealed that he and other influential Nigerians have held talks with key political stakeholders, including the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives and the President’s son, to discuss pressing national challenges.
He emphasized that the sentiment among the Igbo people is unanimous:
“One thing is very clear — no Igbo man or woman will have peace if MNK does not regain his freedom. Ala Igbo will never be the same again.”
He acknowledged the heightened emotions surrounding the issue but reiterated the collective resolve:
“Tempers are high, but we all want MNK out, and we will never rest until he is free.”
Obi Cubana concluded by affirming that while agitation can be constructive, lasting solutions must be achieved through dialogue and negotiation.
