Kandi Burruss and Todd Tucker have decided to part ways after more than a decade of marriage.
“After much reflection and prayer, I’ve chosen to move forward with a divorce,” Burruss said in an exclusive statement to PEOPLE. “This is an emotional and challenging moment, but my priority is maintaining my peace, being the best mother I can be, and co-parenting with love and respect.”
She added that she is focusing on her career, family, and personal growth as she enters a new chapter, while asking for privacy, grace, and understanding during the transition.
Burruss, 49, and Tucker, 52, first met in 2011 during the filming of The Real Housewives of Atlanta season 4. They announced their engagement in January 2013 and were married in April 2014.
The pair share two children: son Ace, 9, and daughter Blaze, 5. Each also has an older child from previous relationships — Burruss’ daughter Riley, 23, and Tucker’s daughter Kaela, 29.
Back in October 2022, Burruss told PEOPLE that the key to their strong marriage was “great communication and having fun together,” adding that the two had a deep understanding of each other.
