Tanzania head coach, Miguel Gamondi, has admitted that his team will need to go the extra mile when they face Nigeria at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, DAILY POST reports.
The Taifa Stars are set to take on the Super Eagles in their opening Group match on Tuesday in Fès.
Nigeria, under the guidance of Éric Chelle, boast some of Africa’s top talents and are widely regarded as strong contenders for the title.
Tanzania, who are making their fourth AFCON appearance in Morocco, are yet to advance beyond the group stage, making the challenge even more daunting.
Gamondi acknowledged the difficulty of the task, describing it as a major test against a formidable opponent.
“We have to be realistic. When you look at the quality in the Nigerian team, you must give more than 100 per cent to try to contain them. Our mindset is to play positively and attack, but we also need to be tactically disciplined,” Gamondi said at a press conference in Fès on Monday.
The match is scheduled to kick off at 6:30 pm Nigerian time.
