Defection: Governor Adeleke is a victim of circumstance – PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has described Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke’s defection as the outcome of circumstances beyond his control.

Speaking on Thursday during an interview on Channels Television’s Morning Brief, the party’s factional National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong, said Governor Adeleke’s exit was “vicarious,” adding that the issues that led to it were created by people and could have been resolved by people.

He explained:
“Adeleke’s defection is a victim of circumstance because every problem is man-made and should have a human solution. At the level of leadership he belonged to within the party, decisive action should have been taken. The trouble is that when you keep feeding a monster, you eventually end up in its belly—you become the victim.”

Ememobong added that the PDP leadership should have acted immediately signs of decline appeared in 2023. However, he noted that leaders delayed because they hoped negotiations and calmer emotions would allow reconciliation.

“Unfortunately, that didn’t happen, and the convention in Ibadan made its decision,” he said.

According to him, Adeleke’s situation is the result of accumulated leadership failures and circumstances he cannot fully detach himself from.
