“I will never allow it” — Wike rejects moves to expel him from PDP

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has insisted that no one within the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has the authority to expel him.

Wike said he has been a member of the party since its formation and has played a significant role in its development.

He made the remark during a meeting with members of the PDP Board of Trustees and the National Executive Council over the weekend. The meeting was held under the leadership of Acting National Chairman Abdulrahman Mohammed, and Wike was responding to an expulsion notice issued by a faction loyal to Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed and Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde.

Wike criticized those pushing for his removal, saying they joined the party long after he did and have no right to drive out founding members.

“How can people who met me in my own house try to throw me out? I will never allow it. Ask Bala Mohammed which party he contested under when he became a senator. Our party has always welcomed newcomers who later became governors and senators. Now they think they can chase away those who have sacrificed for the party since the very beginning. If others tolerated it before, we will not,” he said.

He urged PDP stakeholders to remain resolute, adding that those working against the party’s interests would eventually exit.

The meeting was attended by several key figures, including former Abia State Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, former Deputy Speaker Uche Nwuche, Acting National Chairman Abdulrahman Mohammed, National Secretary Samuel Anyanwu, and BoT members from across the country and the FCT.
