Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan (PDP–Kogi Central) says she is now prepared to substantiate her allegation of sexual harassment against Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
She explained that the lawsuit filed by Akpabio has finally given her the opportunity that the Senate Committee on Ethics and Privileges previously denied her—the chance to present her evidence before a competent court.
In a statement, the senator said the court process “has provided the platform” she had been waiting for. She maintained that she would prove her claim that she was harassed and that her refusal to yield to the alleged advances led to prolonged political victimisation.
“See you in court, Godswill Akpabio,” she stated.
Akpabio has filed a ₦200 billion defamation suit against her, accusing her of circulating false and damaging allegations. According to court documents from the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, he is seeking substantial damages, public retractions, and nationwide broadcast apologies, arguing that her statements harmed his reputation and exposed him to public embarrassment.
The lawsuit, supported by a detailed statement of claim and a list of witnesses, asserts that Senator Natasha’s interviews—aired on television, radio, and widely shared online—portrayed the Senate President as someone who abused his position for personal benefit.
