Former U.S. President Donald Trump has responded to reports surrounding the alleged deaths of filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Reiner, with comments that appeared to focus more on political rhetoric than on the seriousness of the situation.
According to a report cited by Mail Online, the couple were found dead at their $13.5 million Los Angeles residence on Sunday afternoon following an alleged violent confrontation with a relative, identified as their nephew. Authorities have reportedly taken the suspect into custody, and he has been charged with murder.
Trump addressed the incident on social media Monday morning, asserting that Reiner’s long-standing and outspoken criticism of him was the underlying cause of the tragedy. He characterized the situation as an example of what he referred to as “Trump Derangement Syndrome.”
In his post, Trump described Reiner as a formerly talented filmmaker and comedian whose intense opposition toward him allegedly fueled anger and conflict. He claimed that Reiner’s fixation on Trump had reached extreme levels during his presidency and suggested this obsession played a role in the events that unfolded.
