Detroit rapper Baby Smoove was taken into custody earlier this week in Miami, USA, over multiple drug- and weapon-related allegations, before being released on bail.
Police records indicate that the artist, born Jaelin Deanta Parker, was stopped late Wednesday night while driving a yellow Lamborghini with heavily tinted windows. An officer reported noticing smoke inside the vehicle and a strong smell of marijuana while approaching the car.
Authorities also claimed a black handgun was spotted beneath the driver’s seat, prompting officers to order all occupants out of the vehicle for safety reasons.
Baby Smoove and two other passengers were arrested after police determined that none of them was legally authorised to possess a firearm, with the weapon reportedly accessible to everyone in the car.
A search of the vehicle allegedly uncovered a loaded black Taurus PT809 handgun, as well as a yellow pill container hidden in a compartment containing substances suspected to be oxycodone, xanax and tizanidine hydrochloride.
Police further reported recovering a yellow backpack holding about $30,000 in cash, nearly 82 grams of suspected marijuana, several containers believed to contain THC wax, and a bottle of promethazine. Investigators said the rapper denied knowing who owned the firearm but acknowledged that the yellow bag belonged to him.
The “Losing My Mind” rapper was charged with seven felony counts, including multiple counts of possession of controlled substances with intent to sell while armed, possession of marijuana with intent to sell, intent to manufacture or sell prescription drugs, and carrying a concealed firearm.
He was released from custody on Friday, December 12, after posting a $1,000 surety bond.
