The National Chairman of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Ajuji Ahmed, has lashed out at former members who recently left the party for other political platforms.
Ahmed warned that those who defected would face hardship and challenges in their new political homes. He made the remarks on Thursday during the party’s 10th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Abuja.
Describing the former members as “renegades,” Ahmed said that although the NNPP may be smaller in size, it is more cohesive and resilient than many other parties.
He urged remaining members to disregard the defectors, insisting that their decision to leave would only bring them difficulties. According to him, abandoning a peaceful and stable party for ones plagued by internal crises was a poor and regrettable choice.
The NNPP chairman also criticised the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC), noting that despite attempts by external forces to destabilise the NNPP, the party has remained intact.
Ahmed maintained that the NNPP has no internal rifts and is not under the control of any individual or external influence. He emphasised that the party is neither factionalised nor weakened, but remains united and focused on its ideals.
“I urge you to completely ignore the antics of these so-called defectors,” he said.
“May their path continue to be rough.
“If anyone chooses to jump from calm waters into a frying pan, or even straight into a raging fire, we can only wish them a safe journey.
“We are not divided into factions with multiple chairmen. We have not been hijacked or weakened by any single powerful external force. We are NNPP, and we are united.”
