Buhari, Tinubu Tenures ‘Challenging’ for Southeast – Nwodo

Former Enugu State Governor, Okwesilieze Nwodo, has described the political climate under former President Muhammadu Buhari and current President Bola Tinubu as difficult for Nigeria’s South-East region, highlighting why the All Progressives Congress (APC) struggles to gain support there.

Speaking on Arise Television, Nwodo said the Buhari administration was harsh on the South-East, and he believes conditions under President Tinubu have become even more challenging. He added that the APC is widely perceived in the region as a party that oppresses the South, which has hindered its acceptance.

He explained: “Unfortunately, since APC was formed in the South-East, it has never taken root. It is seen as a party that singles out the South for oppression. Eight years under Buhari were difficult for our people, and the first two and a half years under President Tinubu have been even more challenging. Naturally, the public does not gravitate towards APC. Our leaders may align with the party for reasons known to them, but they do not speak for the general populace.”
