The NFL has launched a review into domestic violence allegations involving Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice, following claims made by his former partner, Dacoda Jones.
In a series of Instagram posts shared on Wednesday, January 7, Jones—who has two children with Rice—accused him of subjecting her to abuse over the course of their eight-year relationship. She alleged that the mistreatment continued during her pregnancies and claimed that she was once locked out of her home in freezing weather. Jones also posted photos depicting bruises, other injuries, and damage to property, which she said resulted from the alleged abuse.
Although Jones did not mention Rice by name, his grandmother appeared in the comments section to publicly defend him.
On Thursday, the NFL confirmed that it is reviewing the matter under its personal conduct policy. In a statement, the league said it had been in contact with the Chiefs and would evaluate the situation accordingly.
Rice’s attorney told TMZ Sports earlier in the week that the player has not been charged with any crime. The Kansas City Chiefs also acknowledged on Wednesday night that they are aware of the allegations.
