South African singer Tyla has won the Best African Music Performance award at the 2026 Grammy Awards, edging out Nigerian stars Burna Boy, Davido and Ayra Starr.
She claimed the honour with her track Push 2 Start, defeating Burna Boy’s Love, Davido’s With You featuring Omah Lay, Ayra Starr and Wizkid’s Gimme Dat, as well as Hope & Love by Eddy Kenzo and Mehran Matin.
The category—created to spotlight African music globally—once again saw strong Nigerian representation, with Burna Boy, Davido and Ayra Starr all shortlisted.
This marks Tyla’s second win in the category. She previously made history in 2024 as its first-ever recipient with her hit song Water.
