Marcus Rashford dismisses Manchester United comeback

Marcus Rashford has reportedly rejected the chance to return to Manchester United, choosing instead to continue his career at Barcelona despite renewed interest from his former club.

According to The Touchline, the England forward has reservations about United’s current sporting project and feels his ambitions are better aligned with Barcelona’s long-term vision. The influence of head coach Hansi Flick is believed to have played a significant role in Rashford’s confidence in the Camp Nou project.

United’s interest is said to have intensified following recent changes within the club’s technical structure. Interim manager Michael Carrick reportedly reached out to Rashford directly, viewing him as a key component in plans to rebuild the team’s attacking setup ahead of next season.

However, Rashford is understood to be reluctant to consider a return, with concerns lingering over the club’s long-term direction. Sources suggest he feels United are still lacking stability and a clear strategy, making a move back unappealing at this stage of his career.

By contrast, Rashford is believed to be happy and settled in Spain, fully committed to his life at Barcelona. Since joining last summer, he has adapted well to both the club and its surroundings, forging strong relationships within the squad.

Speaking recently to SPORT, Rashford left little doubt about his intentions.

“My aim is to stay at Barca. That’s the ultimate goal,” he said. “The objective is to win. Barca is a massive club, built to compete for trophies.”

He also described his experience at the club as extremely positive, highlighting the atmosphere at Barcelona and reiterating his desire to help the team challenge for major honours.
