Cristiano Ronaldo and his fiancée, Georgina Rodriguez, are reportedly preparing to wed next summer in a Christian ceremony on the football star’s home island of Madeira.
According to Jornal da Madeira, the couple will exchange vows at the historic Funchal Cathedral shortly after the 2026 World Cup, followed by an elegant reception at a luxury hotel.
The announcement comes months after the pair confirmed their engagement in August, marking a milestone in their relationship of more than nine years.
Ronaldo, 40, recently shared details of his spontaneous proposal, which featured a £1.5 million ring but lacked traditional fanfare.
“It was around 1am, the girls were asleep,” he told Piers Morgan. “A friend handed me the ring, and just as I was giving it to Gio, my two kids walked in saying, ‘Daddy, you’re going to ask Mum to marry you.’ That was the moment. I knew it would happen someday, just not then.”
He added that although he didn’t go down on one knee due to the unplanned nature of the moment, it was still deeply meaningful to both of them.
“I’m not the typical romantic who brings flowers every week, but I’m romantic in my own way. I knew she was the woman of my life,” he said.
Ronaldo is a father of five: Alana Martina and Bella Esmeralda with Georgina, Cristiano Jr., born in 2010, and twins Eva and Mateo, born via surrogacy in 2017.
The couple first met in 2016 during Ronaldo’s time at Real Madrid, and their relationship has since grown into one of the most high-profile unions in global sports and entertainment.
