Socialite Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chiefpriest, has warned President Bola Tinubu that the continued detention of IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu will severely affect his political fortunes in the South-East ahead of the 2027 elections.
Reacting on social media to Kanu’s recent conviction and sentencing on terrorism-related charges, the businessman claimed the President would struggle to secure even 10,000 votes in the region if Kanu remains incarcerated.
His statement reads:
“President @officialasiwajubat, as long as MNK remains in jail, you cannot and will never get up to 10,000 votes in the South-East in 2027. I won’t lie to you, Papa. As a friend of your administration, I have no reason to sugarcoat anything. MNK is seen as the supreme leader in the South-East. His detention has held us back in many ways, and I’m shocked that your ministers from the region can’t speak honestly to you—they are all too afraid to tell the truth. None of them has the capacity to earn the people’s love or respect on your behalf.
As for the governors, they will also disappoint you because they have nothing meaningful to tell the people. Only the release of MNK can help you. @seyitinubu, everyone you met with at Delborough Hotel the other day is misleading you—including me. They cannot deliver anything for you; many of them cannot even visit their hometowns because of MNK’s detention. They only want land and opportunities. You know I don’t need anything from you. The Villa is just a hotel—your checkout time will soon come—and only MNK can secure genuine votes from the South-East.
Watch Governor Alex Otti closely. He is one of the few who can genuinely win people over. I was shocked when you skipped his project commissioning event in Abia, Kanu’s home state, and instead sent an incompetent minister who has failed the South-East. To make matters worse, the Deputy Speaker continues attacking our beloved Governor Otti.
My father, @he_hopeuzodimma, you have done well, but you will lose everything politically if MNK is not released. Your legacies will be erased if you get this wrong.
I believe in your strategy, but this sentencing has weakened us. Kanu’s detention has overshadowed your achievements. Governor-General, please make this right. Without MNK’s release, everything will fall apart. Asiwaju gave me access to the Villa—my first presidential handshake—I won’t stand by and watch him fail. Appeal this judgment and fix it, or prepare to leave the Villa in 2027.
The South-East belongs to MNK. These are the words of the gods. Ignore them at your own risk.”
