Renowned Nigerian rapper Olamide Adedeji, better known as Olamide Baddo, has responded to the criticism that followed his recent statement declaring Wizkid as “the greatest Afrobeats artist after Fela.”
The rapper’s comment, made during a press conference in Toronto, Canada, sparked fierce debate online, with fans of Burna Boy and Davido taking to social media to challenge his remarks.
Reacting to the controversy on his X account on Friday, Olamide stressed that everyone is entitled to their views, adding that there is “enough room in the sky for everyone.”
He noted that artists like Burna Boy, Davido, and Wizkid are too focused and confident in their own paths to be upset by differing opinions.
He wrote:
“Honestly, this whole three-way debate is whatever. You can't take away from anyone's greatness — whether they're considered A-list, B-list, or whatever else. Support who you want and believe what you choose — there’s room for everyone.
“But don’t forget, Burna, David, and Wiz are not narrow-minded enough to get offended by someone’s opinion. That’s part of why they've reached the heights they have today.”
