Rapper Nicki Minaj to Address UN on Alleged Christian Genocide in Nigeria Tomorrow

Popular American rapper Nicki Minaj is scheduled to speak at a United Nations event in New York on Tuesday, November 18, where she will address allegations of a Christian genocide taking place in Nigeria.

Minaj will appear alongside Michael Waltz, the United States ambassador to the UN, and Alex Bruesewitz, an adviser to U.S. President Donald Trump and the organizer of the event.

The trio is expected to discuss the persecution of Christians in Nigeria and the actions President Trump’s administration is taking to confront the issue.

In the lead-up to the event, the Trump administration praised Minaj for using her influence to raise awareness about the alleged atrocities faced by Christians in Nigeria—claims that both the Christian Association of Nigeria and the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria have labeled as genocide.

“@NICKIMINAJ is not only arguably the greatest female recording artist, but also a principled individual who refuses to remain silent in the face of injustice,” Waltz said. “I’m grateful she’s using her massive platform to draw attention to the suffering of Christians in Nigeria, and I look forward to joining her as we outline the President’s efforts to combat this persecution.”

Minaj responded by thanking the administration for giving her the chance to speak at the UN about the situation in Nigeria.

“I am so grateful to be entrusted with an opportunity of this magnitude. I do not take it for granted—it means more than you know,” she said. “The Barbz and I will never stay silent in the face of injustice. God gave us our influence for a greater purpose.”
