A wave of defections has hit the Taraba State House of Assembly as the Speaker and 15 other lawmakers, all formerly elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)—including those who recently joined the party—have switched allegiance to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The lawmakers explained that their move was driven by the lingering crisis within the PDP at the national level, as well as the desire to align with the ruling party at the federal level to secure stronger federal support for Taraba State.
This mass defection precedes Governor Agbu Kefas’s anticipated defection to the APC, scheduled for Wednesday, November 19, 2025.
With these developments, all 24 members of the Taraba State House of Assembly are now officially aligned with the APC
