Nigerian singer Oludipe David, widely known as Spyro, has expressed concern over the diminishing substance in contemporary music.
An advocate for conscious artistry, Spyro argued that the erosion of meaningful music has played a major role in the moral decline of society.
Speaking on the Adesope Live show, he stated, “In the past, artists conveyed significant messages regardless of genre. Today, music is mostly about vibes—we’re just vibing.
“While enjoying the vibe is fine, I feel music has lost its deeper value. There was a time when songs could give you goosebumps. Vibes are enjoyable, but how do we embed messages and values within them?
“Much of the decadence we see in society today stems from music losing its purpose. Many are now singing for money, focusing on business rather than making an impact.”
