Bello made the declaration during a courtesy visit to the palace of the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, where he met with traditional rulers, religious leaders and other stakeholders from the senatorial district.
Addressing the gathering, the former governor said he had heeded calls from supporters to seek election into the Senate and affirmed his readiness to represent Kogi Central at the National Assembly. “I have accepted the call to run for the Senate in 2027,” he said.
The event was attended by the current Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, as well as prominent political figures and community leaders from across the district.
Yahaya Bello served as governor of Kogi State between 2016 and 2024. The Kogi Central Senatorial District is presently represented by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who secured the seat in the 2023 general elections.
