A hit-and-run driver has reportedly killed a masquerade popularly known as “Ekpo” in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

The tragic incident occurred along Usung Obio Ekpo Road when a speeding driver, while trying to evade another vehicle, struck the masquerade and fled the scene.

The body of the Ekpo was left on the roadside, and the identity of the deceased masquerade had not been confirmed as of the time of this report. 

The incident was disclosed on Monday evening, December 22, 2025, by journalist Harrison Essien.
