Arsenal great Thierry Henry will be honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the BBC Sports Personality of the Year ceremony.
The BBC confirmed that the former striker will receive the prestigious recognition at the annual show scheduled for Thursday night, December 18.
Reacting to the announcement, Henry said football had given him everything, adding that he always gave his best to the game. He described the honour as a moment he would always cherish, saying being recognised for his impact on the sport, his fans, and his teammates meant a great deal to him.
Henry joins an elite list of past recipients, including Sir Mark Cavendish, who won the award in 2024, as well as sporting legends such as Billie Jean King, Pelé, Sir Bobby Charlton, Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson, Sir David Beckham, Dame Jessica Ennis-Hill, and Sir Chris Hoy.
Widely regarded as a deserving recipient, Henry enjoyed a glittering career, winning 18 major trophies and scoring hundreds of goals at senior level.
He is most celebrated for his time at Arsenal, where he claimed multiple Premier League titles, FA Cups, and Community Shields, and established himself as the club’s all-time leading goalscorer.
