The Nigerian Senate has confirmed 64 nominees for both career and non-career ambassadorial positions, following the review of a report by its Committee on Foreign Affairs.
The committee’s findings were presented by Chairman Senator Sani Bello, and the recommendations were subsequently adopted by the lawmakers.
During the session, Senator Sahabi Yau raised concerns over the absence of any nominee from Zamfara State on the list, urging the Senate to formally bring the matter to the President’s attention.
Responding, the Senate President acknowledged the concern, clarifying that the list under consideration was not exhaustive. He assured members that the issue would be communicated to the President and noted that additional ambassadorial appointments are expected, with Zamfara State to be included in future nominations.
