The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has reduced its petrol gantry price from N828 to N699 per litre—an N129 drop, representing a 15.58% decrease.
A source confirmed the development to Punch, stating, “The refinery has reduced petrol gantry price to N699 per litre.”
The new rate took effect on December 11, 2025, marking the refinery’s 20th petrol price adjustment this year.
This latest reduction comes just five days after the refinery’s Chairman, Aliko Dangote, reaffirmed his commitment to maintaining “reasonable and competitive” local fuel prices despite global market fluctuations and ongoing smuggling challenges across Nigeria’s borders.
Following a closed-door meeting with President Bola Tinubu on December 6, Dangote noted that prices would continue to decline as production increases and the refinery competes with imported fuel.
“Prices are going down. They must go down because we also have to compete with imports,” he said.
“Fortunately, smuggling has reduced—though not entirely. There is still considerable smuggling since fuel prices in Nigeria remain about 55% lower than in neighbouring countries.”
Dangote added that both diesel and petrol would “continue to be sold at very reasonable market prices.”
