Today, I laid before the Edo State House of Assembly the 2026 Appropriation Bill totaling ₦939.85 billion, appropriately titled the Budget of Hope and Growth. This budget builds on the gains of 2025, reflects improved revenue performance, and reaffirms our unwavering commitment to people-centered development under the SHINE Agenda.
In the outgoing year, security remained a foremost priority. We acted decisively to ensure Edo State did not become a haven for criminal activity by strengthening legal frameworks, enhancing security logistics, and recruiting 2,500 officers into the Edo State Security Corps.
These measures led to a marked reduction in insecurity and restored public confidence across the state. We also achieved notable progress in healthcare, infrastructure, agriculture, and education.
The 2026 budget places strong emphasis on infrastructure, health, education, agriculture, and economic growth, with over 68% dedicated to capital expenditure. From the construction of new roads and flyovers to the upgrading of schools, expansion of healthcare facilities, increased agricultural investments, and job-creation initiatives, this budget is crafted to improve lives, stimulate economic growth, and secure a brighter future for every Edo citizen.
A New Edo Has Risen.
