I’ll Definitely Reach 1,000 Goals — Ronaldo Speaks on Future, Hints at Europe Return

Cristiano Ronaldo has reaffirmed his determination to score 1,000 career goals, while also suggesting he could yet return to European football.

The 40-year-old superstar moved his tally to 956 goals after scoring twice in Al-Nassr’s 3–0 win over Al Akhdoud on Saturday.

Speaking at an awards ceremony in Dubai on Sunday, the former Real Madrid and Manchester United forward said his passion for the game remains strong and that he is eager to continue playing at the highest level.

“My passion is still high and I want to keep going,” Ronaldo said. “It doesn’t matter where I play, whether in the Middle East or Europe. I always enjoy football and I want to continue.”

Confident about reaching the historic milestone, he added: “I will reach the number — 1,000 go

als — for sure, if I stay free from injuries.”

Ronaldo’s brace also took his goal tally for the year to 40, meaning he has now scored at least 40 goals in 14 different calendar years during his illustrious career.

His most prolific season came in 2013, when he netted 63 goals in all competitions for club and country.

In a recent interview with Piers Morgan, Ronaldo revealed that he believes he is likely one or two years away from retirement, though his latest comments suggest he remains motivated to prolong his career.
