The Imo State Police Command has arrested four individuals for the unlawful possession and distribution of banned fireworks and other pyrotechnic materials within the Owerri metropolis.
Those arrested were identified as Victor Amadi (29), Moses Okoro (31), Ebuka Onye (28), and Isaac Amadi (23).
The arrests followed separate intelligence-driven raids carried out at various locations across Owerri, during which officers recovered large quantities of prohibited fireworks and related pyrotechnic items.
Confirming the development, the command’s spokesperson, SP Henry Okoye, reiterated that there is a total ban on the use, sale, distribution, and possession of fireworks, knockouts, bangers, and all other explosive devices in Imo State. He warned that anyone found violating the directive would be arrested and prosecuted in line with the law.
