Chad Ollinger, a cast member of Discovery Channel’s Mystery at Blind Frog Ranch, has been charged with murder following the death of his cellmate at a detention facility in Las Vegas, authorities have said.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department reported that corrections officers at the Clark County Detention Center found an unresponsive male inmate during a routine check on Friday. Upon entering the cell, officers noticed signs of apparent blunt-force trauma, and the inmate was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said Ollinger, who was housed in the same cell as the deceased, was immediately detained. Investigators later concluded that a physical confrontation had taken place between Ollinger and the victim before the inmate’s death.
A spokesperson for the detention center confirmed that Ollinger has since been charged with open murder. He had already been in custody since October after being arrested as a fugitive from another state and is also facing a separate contempt of court charge.
Authorities noted that investigations into the incident are ongoing, and no additional information about the victim has been released.
