Kano Hisbah Detains Nine Young Girls Over Alleged Prostitution

The Kano State Hisbah Board has arrested nine young girls over allegations of prostitution, commonly referred to as “Good Evening Girls,” during a late-night operation in the state capital.

The Board’s Deputy Commander General, Dr. Mujahideen Aminuddeen, confirmed the arrests in a statement issued on Saturday, December 27, 2025. He said the suspects—eight females and one male—were apprehended during a special end-of-year raid carried out on Friday night across key areas of the Kano metropolis.

According to Aminuddeen, the operation targeted major streets where the suspects were allegedly operating under the guise of “Good Evening Girls.”

He explained that the girls are often approached by affluent individuals who take them to various locations and reportedly give them sums ranging from ₦5,000 to ₦30,000.

Aminuddeen stated that the girls, aged between 15 and 20, reportedly admitted to having engaged in the activity for some time.

The raids covered several locations, including Zoo Road, Banana Zoo Road, Ahmadu Bello Way, Lamido Crescent, Tukur Road, Lodge Road, Nassarawa Hospital Road, Magajin Rumfa Road, Sultan Road Nassarawa, and Audu Bako Way.

He added that the Hisbah Board would sustain its enforcement activities in such areas to curb violations of Shari’a law in the state.

The deputy commander also advised parents to pay closer attention to the upbringing of their children, particularly girls, as a way of addressing prostitution and other social challenges.

He noted that the suspects would be charged to court once investigations are completed.
