Nigeria Police commence recruitment of 50,000 constables

The Police Service Commission (PSC) and the Nigeria Police Force have launched the recruitment of 50,000 police constables, following approval from President Bola Tinubu.

In a statement released on Thursday, the Commission’s Head of Protocol and Public Affairs, Torty Njoku Kalu, announced that the recruitment portal will open on Monday, 15 December 2025, and close on Sunday, 25 January 2026. Eligible applicants are required to submit their forms online within this period.

The Commission assured that the process will be “transparent, merit-based, and credible,” emphasizing that applications are completely free and no fees will be charged at any stage.

According to the announcement, applicants for the general duty category must possess GCE Ordinary Level, SSCE/NECO, or equivalent qualifications with at least five credits—including English and Mathematics—obtained in not more than two sittings.

For the specialist cadre, candidates must have a minimum of four credits (including English and Mathematics) in similar qualifications, along with at least three years of relevant experience and Trade Test certifications.

Applicants must be Nigerian citizens by birth. The age requirement is 18–25 years for General Duty and 18–28 years for Specialist roles. They must also meet medical, physical, and psychological fitness standards.

The statement added that General Duty applicants must not be shorter than 1.67m for males and 1.64m for females.
