A former student of Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, identified as Oyelade Habeeb Olawale, has reportedly been k!lled following a cult-related clash on the institution’s campus.
The incident, which occurred on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, was said to involve ex-students linked to rival cult groups.
Olawale, a former Civil Engineering student with matriculation number ND/20/CEC/FT/206, died during the confrontation.
Several individuals suspected of involvement have been arrested and handed over to the police for further investigation.
Confirming the incident, the Polytechnic’s Public Relations Officer, Halimat Garba, described the development as tragic and reiterated the institution’s zero tolerance for violence and illegal activities.
“We deeply regret the loss of life and extend our condolences to the family and friends of the deceased. Our security team responded swiftly, and several suspects have been apprehended and transferred to the police,” she said.
Garba added that the institution is working closely with security agencies to ensure justice is served. She noted that calm has since been restored and assured that the campus remains safe for academic and administrative activities.
She urged students and the campus community to report any suspicious behaviour to authorities to help maintain peace and security.
