Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, Joins Accord Party

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has officially announced his defection to the Accord Party, just days after resigning from the PDP. He also confirmed that he will seek a second term in office under the Accord Party, widely known as the “thumb up” party.

The announcement was made on Tuesday, December 9, at the Banquet Hall of the Government House in Osogbo, with both national and state leaders of the Accord Party in attendance.

Adeleke revealed that he had quietly registered with the Accord Party on November 6, following extensive consultations with stakeholders and community leaders.

He stated:

“I joined the Accord Party over a month ago as the platform through which I will pursue re-election in 2026. This decision came after weeks of engagement with stakeholders who understand the reasons behind this move. Our aim is to complete the transformational work we have begun—work that has been widely commended within and outside Osun State.

We chose the Accord Party because its ideology of welfarism aligns with our commitment to prioritizing citizens’ and workers’ welfare.

I welcome our party leaders to the Government House. We are now one family, united in our mission to advance Osun State and Nigeria as a whole.

At this defining moment, our responsibility is to remain united as we approach the next election. Our goal is inclusive leadership that reflects the interests of all groups. The Accord Party is prepared to take the lead in shaping Osun’s future and sustaining effective governance.

Since joining the party, I have grown even more impressed by its people-oriented philosophy. Welfare must always guide public leadership, and as a government, we have kept our focus firmly on improving the lives of our people—through infrastructure, social services, and responsive governance.

Today, we present this new platform to the good people of Osun State. From Osun West to Central and East, this is our path to victory in the coming election.

Across Igbomina, Ijeshaland, Ifeland, Osogbo, Iwoland, Modakeke, Gbongan, Igbajo, Ikire, Ikirun, Ede, and every community in Osun, we must unite behind the ‘thumb up’ symbol for continued good governance.

Osun chose progress in 2022, and the people will support continuity in 2026. Accord is our vehicle for next year’s victory.

In line with the wishes of our stakeholders and the people of Osun State, I hereby formally declare for the Accord Party.”

The national chairman of the Accord Party, Maxwell Mgbudem, welcomed Governor Adeleke into the fold and pledged the party’s full support as he begins this new political journey.
