Presidency debunks claims of Gbajabiamila’s replacement as Tinubu’s Chief of Staff

The Presidency has dismissed as false reports alleging that President Bola Tinubu has replaced his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, with the Principal Private Secretary, Hakeem Muri-Okunola.

The clarification follows a series of viral social media posts claiming—citing so-called insider sources—that a change had been made in the Chief of Staff position.

Reacting to the claims, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, issued a statement on Thursday urging Nigerians to ignore the reports.

According to Onanuga, the Presidency’s attention was drawn to the misleading information circulating online, stressing that there is no truth whatsoever to the claim. He affirmed that Femi Gbajabiamila remains the Chief of Staff, while Hakeem Muri-Okunola continues in his role as Principal Private Secretary.

The Presidency described the report as a fabrication by purveyors of fake news aimed at creating disunity within the government.

It also cautioned media organisations and the public to always verify information before publishing or sharing it on social media.
