Former tennis star Ana Ivanovic has reportedly filed for divorce from Bastian Schweinsteiger following allegations that the former German international was involved in an affair.
The pair, who are said to have separated earlier this year, had been married for nine years. They first met in 2014 and wed in a 2016 ceremony in Venice, a year after Schweinsteiger joined Manchester United.
According to German outlet Bild, Ivanovic, 38, filed for divorce in November at the Munich District Court. She is also believed to have filed for child support in Palma de Mallorca, Spain, where she lives with the couple’s three sons—Luka, Leon, and Teo.
Ivanovic’s representative, Christian Schertz, confirmed in July that the couple split due to “irreconcilable differences.”
Rumours intensified in June after German media reported Schweinsteiger had been seen kissing a woman described as his new partner. The two were reportedly acquainted because their children attend the same school. German outlets identified the woman only as “Silva,” allegedly of Bulgarian origin, and claimed the affair may have begun in summer 2024.
Magazine Bunte reported that Ivanovic had been willing to forgive Schweinsteiger, but reconciliation failed after he expressed a desire to “live freely.”
The couple were last seen together publicly at the Laver Cup in September 2024.
Schweinsteiger, now 41, played for Manchester United for a season and a half, winning the FA Cup in 2016 before moving to MLS side Chicago Fire. He retired from football in 2019.
