The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, has married Queen Zaynab Otiti-Obanor, the former wife of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi.
The marriage was confirmed on Friday by a member of the Dajoh family in Benue State, Abraham Double-d Dajoh, who announced the union in a Facebook post. He described the occasion as a joyful and celebratory moment for the family, warmly welcoming Queen Zaynab into the Dajoh family.
In the statement, the family expressed gratitude to Senator Akume’s supporters and encouraged them to continue standing by him, extending a warm welcome to Queen Zaynab to Benue State, Mbakor, and the Dajoh family home.
Akume’s spokesman, Yomi Odunuga, also confirmed the marriage in a conversation with Punch on Friday. However, he clarified that contrary to reports suggesting the wedding took place on December 24, the marriage had actually been contracted more than a year ago.
Odunuga explained that the couple’s appearance together at a Christmas event in Gboko sparked speculation, but the union itself was not recent.
Queen Zaynab, formerly known as Olori Wuraola, has been married four times. Her third marriage, to the Ooni of Ife, lasted about 17 months before it ended.
