Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle is reportedly yet to receive his salary for the past two months, even as the 2025 AFCON draws near.
Chelle, who earns $55,000 monthly and also covers the wages of his backroom staff, has not been paid since Nigeria’s 2026 World Cup Playoff fixtures in Morocco.
According to Vanguard, the payment delay dates back to last month’s qualifiers.
Despite the issue, Chelle oversaw Nigeria’s recent World Cup qualifying matches against Lesotho and Benin Republic, as well as the playoff games versus Gabon and the Democratic Republic of Congo—all without pay.
This week, he met with the NFF technical committee in Abuja to discuss preparations for the AFCON in Morocco, where Nigeria has been grouped with Tunisia, Tanzania, and Uganda in the opening round.
