Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas, is scheduled to officially defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in January 2026.
The announcement was made by the APC Chairman in Taraba State, Ibrahim Tukur.
Kefas had initially planned to join the party on November 19 but postponed the move, citing the kidnapping of students in Kebbi State as a reason, describing it as an inappropriate time for political celebrations during a national security challenge.
At a press briefing in Jalingo on Sunday, Tukur explained that although the governor has already been registered at the ward level, the formal ceremony will not take place this month.
“December is already filled with activities. We don’t want to inconvenience people across the state when many are preparing for Christmas and New Year,” he said.
Tukur also confirmed that Governor Kefas has fulfilled all the necessary membership requirements.
