At least three people have been killed and three others abducted following a late-night attack by suspected bandits on Bundu Kahugu community in Lere Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The attack reportedly occurred around 11:00 pm on Monday, December 29, 2025, when armed assailants invaded the village under the cover of darkness.
Confirming the incident on Tuesday, the National Secretary of the Bundu Kahugu community, Ishaya Dauda, said the attackers stormed the area shooting indiscriminately and causing panic among residents.
He noted that the community had suffered a similar assault less than two weeks earlier, during which four people were killed, heightening fears over the growing frequency of attacks in the area.
“The attackers came late at night and started firing shots. Three people were killed on the spot, while three others were taken away. This is the second time our community has been attacked in less than two weeks,” Dauda said.
The victims killed in the latest attack were identified as Felix Augustine, Luka Yakubu and Ezra Namata.
Residents have appealed to the Kaduna State Government and security agencies to urgently deploy military personnel to the community to prevent further attacks. They also called on telecommunication companies to improve network coverage in the area, noting that poor connectivity makes it easier for attackers to operate and escape.
“We are begging the government to come to our aid. The poor network here is helping the attackers. We need a strong security presence and better communication facilities to protect our people,” the community leader added.
