White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt has revealed that she is expecting her second child, making history as the first person to serve in the role while pregnant.
Leavitt shared the news on social media, announcing that she and her husband, real estate developer Nicholas Riccio, are expecting a baby girl in May 2026. The couple welcomed their first child, a son, in 2024.
Describing the news as a special holiday blessing, Leavitt wrote that welcoming a baby girl is “the greatest Christmas gift” and said she and her husband are excited to expand their family and see their son step into the role of big brother.
She also expressed gratitude to President Donald Trump and White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles for what she described as a supportive, family-friendly atmosphere within the White House.
The announcement further adds to Leavitt’s list of milestones. She became the youngest White House press secretary in history at age 27 when she assumed the role last January.
Prior to her appointment, Leavitt served as press secretary for Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign, much of which she handled while pregnant. She later told The Washington Post that she returned to work just three days after giving birth in July, following the attempted assassination of Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania.
Leavitt previously ran for Congress in New Hampshire in 2022, though unsuccessfully, and also worked in the White House press office during Trump’s first term.
