Senator Pam Mwadkon Dachungyang has officially left the Action Democratic Party (ADP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The defection was confirmed in a letter read on the Senate floor on Thursday by Senate President Godswill Akpabio. In the letter, Dachungyang attributed his decision to unresolved internal disputes within the ADP, adding that the APC provides a better platform for him to effectively serve his constituents.
Meanwhile, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has announced a provisional timetable for its primary elections ahead of the 2026 local government elections in Anambra State.
According to a statement issued on Thursday in Awka by APGA’s National Publicity Secretary, Mazi Ejimofor Opara, the timetable was approved in line with the party’s constitution and the electoral calendar of the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission.
The statement disclosed that the sale and submission of Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms will begin on January 27 and end on February 6 at the party’s Awka Regional Secretariat.
Opara added that the screening of chairmanship and councillorship aspirants is scheduled to take place from February 7 to February 11 across the state’s 21 local government areas and 326 wards.
The statement further noted that appeals arising from the screening exercise will be handled on February 13, while ward congresses to elect councillorship candidates and ad-hoc delegates will be held on February 14.
APGA also confirmed that its chairmanship primary election will take place on February 15 in Awka.
