Ghanaian prophet who built ark after predicting Christmas Day apocalypse remanded (video)

A Ghanaian content creator and self-styled prophet, Evans Eshun—popularly known as Ebo Noah—has been remanded in police custody for two weeks following proceedings at the Adentan Circuit Court.

The court also ordered that Eshun undergo a psychiatric evaluation at the Pantang Psychiatric Hospital ahead of his next appearance. The assessment will inform further legal steps as investigations continue. The case was adjourned to January 16, with the psychiatric report expected before the hearing.

Eshun had claimed in August 2025 that he received a divine revelation warning that the world would end due to continuous rainfall lasting three years, beginning on December 25, 2025. The 33-year-old said he was instructed by God to build an ark in preparation for the anticipated flood.

As Christmas drew near, many Christians reportedly visited the site of the ark, hoping to board it for safety. On December 24, Eshun said the structure was about 80 per cent complete and insisted it would be the only refuge when the disaster began.

However, when no flood occurred on Christmas Day, he announced a new revelation, saying the disaster had been averted and that he had instead been directed to build additional arks.

Following the failed prophecy, officers of the Ghana Police Service’s Special Cyber Vetting Team arrested him on December 31, 2025, in the Weija-Gbawe area of Accra while he was live-streaming online.

He was detained over allegations of spreading online disinformation and later arraigned in court on Friday, January 2. Prosecutors charged him with false communication, deliberately misleading the public, and publishing false news—offences they say violate Ghana’s criminal laws.
