‘Nigeria Not as Dangerous as the US’ – American Rapper DDG

American rapper Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr., widely known as DDG, has dismissed negative portrayals of Nigeria in Western media, describing them as misleading.

The rapper, who is currently spending his holiday in Lagos, said Nigeria is far less dangerous than often portrayed and argued that the United States poses greater security risks by comparison.

Encouraging foreigners to experience the country firsthand, DDG said many of the fears surrounding Nigeria are exaggerated.

In a video message, he stated, “I actually believe the United States is more dangerous. Nigeria is not as unsafe as people make it seem — not even close.

“Yes, there are security challenges here, but gun violence and gang-related crimes are far more common in America than in Nigeria. If you’re considering visiting Nigeria, I’d say come and see for yourself.”

DDG also shared that he had been warned about Nigerian food and advised to boil drinking water at all times. However, he said his experience proved otherwise, noting that Nigerian meals were healthy and enjoyable, with jollof rice standing out as a favourite.
