Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In a letter dated December 29, 2025, and addressed to the PDP Ward Chairman of Ampang West Ward in Mangu Local Government Area, the governor announced his decision to withdraw from the party with immediate effect.

The resignation letter, which was acknowledged by the ward leadership the following day, expressed Mutfwang’s gratitude to the PDP for offering him the opportunity to participate in Nigeria’s democratic process.

In the letter, he stated that he appreciated the support of party leaders, members, and supporters at all levels, and thanked them for the confidence placed in him during his time in the party.

Mutfwang explained that, considering current political realities and driven by his commitment to effective leadership, clear direction, and quality service delivery, he has decided to pursue his political career on a different platform.

He concluded the letter by extending his highest regards to the party leadership.

The governor is widely expected to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC). This follows a recent announcement by the APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, who revealed at an event held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja that the Plateau governor would soon be joining the ruling party.
