Nollywood actress Angela Okorie has reportedly been re-arrested following allegations that she refused to pay the lawyer who helped secure her bail from Suleja prison.
According to reports, Okorie was taken back into custody at Suleja prison on Tuesday shortly after she was released on bail.
DAILY POST notes that the development occurred less than an hour after actor Stanley Ontop raised concerns about an alleged plot to re-arrest the actress after her release.
In a video shared on Instagram, actress Doris Ogala disclosed that she was heading to the police station over the incident. She alleged that Okorie was re-arrested by an unnamed Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) after refusing to pay the agreed legal fee of ₦5 million for securing her bail.
Ogala explained that after Okorie was initially arrested by Mercy Johnson, she contacted an acquaintance to help engage a SAN. The lawyer reportedly charged ₦5 million and facilitated the bail process. However, she claimed that after the bail was granted, Okorie insisted she never requested the services of a SAN and declined to pay the fee, despite the intermediary having already made a deposit.
Further reports that Okorie, who was granted bail on Friday following her arrest over alleged defamation, had only regained her freedom minutes earlier after fulfilling her bail conditions before being re-arrested.
