The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially declared Morocco as the winners of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
The CAF Appeal Board ruled in Morocco’s favor, stating that Senegal forfeited the final after walking off the pitch during the match. As a result, Morocco was granted a 3–0 victory.
This ruling confirms Morocco’s appeal following the controversial incidents that occurred during the game.
It will be recalled that Senegal’s players temporarily left the field in protest after a disputed late penalty was awarded to Morocco. Although captain Sadio Mané later persuaded the team to return, and they went on to win the match 1–0, CAF found that their earlier action breached Article 84 and related regulations.
According to AFCON rules, any team that refuses to continue a match or leaves the field without permission risks disqualification and forfeiting the game.
