Ireti Kingibe Accused Of Diverting ADC’s ₦100 Million Campaign Fund

The Chairman of the African Democratic Congress in Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Omale Sule, has alleged that the Senator representing the Federal Capital Territory, Ireti Kingibe, received ₦100 million from the party’s national leadership ahead of the Area Council elections.

The accusation follows a move by the FCT chapter of the ADC to approach the Federal High Court in Abuja seeking an order to stop Kingibe from presenting herself as a member of the party.

Speaking with journalists in Abuja on Friday, Sule claimed that Kingibe had no involvement with the party’s local structure and that members were unaware of how the ₦100 million allegedly given to her before the FCT local government election was utilised.

According to him, party officials never saw any part of the funds.

“We heard that ₦100 million was given to Senator Ireti Kingibe by the ADC national leadership shortly before the FCT local government election, but nothing was brought to the party structure,” Sule said.

He further criticised the senator for allegedly distancing herself from party activities, stating that she rarely attends meetings or interacts with party leaders within the territory.

Sule added that even top political figures in Nigeria maintain strong ties with their ward structures, noting that the FCT senator had failed to maintain similar engagement with the party leadership in the area.
