‘Tinubu Still Our Leader’ – Adeleke Affirms Support Amid Osun APC Dispute

The Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, has reiterated his backing for the re-election of Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027, pledging to support the President’s second-term ambition despite ongoing political tensions in the state.

Adeleke made this known during a meeting with cabinet members, special advisers, and senior government officials at the Government House in Osogbo, according to a statement by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed.

The meeting was attended by key figures, including Deputy Governor Kola Adewusi, his sister Dupe Adeleke-Sanni, and Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Adewale Egbedun, among others.

Addressing the gathering, Adeleke clarified that his political disagreements at the state level do not extend to the presidency, stressing that Tinubu remains a respected leader in the South West.

He said the ongoing crisis over control of local government councils in Osun would not affect his endorsement, reaffirming his commitment to supporting Tinubu’s re-election in the region’s best interest.

The governor also expressed gratitude to residents for their continued support following his move to the Accord Party, noting that the party is gaining momentum across the state and beyond.

Adeleke promised improved governance if re-elected, with a renewed focus on youth empowerment, women, workers, and sustained development in infrastructure, agriculture, education, and healthcare.

He further directed party members and aides to intensify grassroots mobilisation across all 332 wards in the state in preparation for future elections.

Despite his endorsement of Tinubu, Adeleke remains embroiled in a prolonged political battle with the All Progressives Congress (APC) over control of local government councils.

The dispute stems from conflicting outcomes of local government elections, including those conducted in October 2022 under former governor Adegboyega Oyetola and a separate poll held by Adeleke’s administration in February 2025.

The crisis has led to violent clashes between supporters of both parties, resulting in multiple fatalities, including a local government chairman, Remi Abbas. Meanwhile, both sides have turned to the courts to validate their mandates as tensions persist across the state.
