Fifteen farmers have been abducted by gunmen in Ungwan Nungu, a community in Bokana Ward of Sanga Local Government Area, Kaduna State.
The attack took place on Saturday, November 29, 2025, as the victims were returning from their farmlands.
Confirming the incident in a statement on Tuesday, December 2, Daniel Amos, the member representing Jema’a/Sanga Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, condemned the abduction as “cruel, senseless and deeply regrettable.”
He noted that the attack further highlights the growing insecurity affecting rural communities.
Amos urged residents of Ungwan Nungu and nearby areas to remain calm and avoid any actions that could escalate tensions. He also encouraged vigilance and cooperation with security operatives.
Calling for a coordinated security response, the lawmaker appealed for swift action to secure the safe release of the kidnapped farmers.
“It is with deep concern that I address the unfortunate abduction of fifteen members of Ungwan Nungu community… kidnapped while returning from their farms,” the statement read.
He described the incident as a painful reminder of the dangers faced daily by citizens, adding that targeting peaceful, hardworking people is unacceptable and must be met with the full force of the law.
Amos emphasized the need for unity, patience, and strict adherence to the law during this period, stressing that panic or retaliation would only worsen the situation.
He called on security agencies to intensify surveillance and conduct intelligence-led operations to rescue the victims and bring the perpetrators to justice.
“To the families of those abducted, I share your pain. We will continue to press for every necessary step until all victims return safely,” he said, assuring that the safety and wellbeing of the people remain a priority.
He expressed hope that, through collective resolve, peace would be restored to the affected communities.
