The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has alerted the public to the recall of Indomie brand instant noodles in the Vegetable Flavour variant, following the detection of undeclared allergens—specifically milk and eggs.
In a public alert posted on social media on December 19, 2025, NAFDAC explained that the recall originated from a notice issued by France's food safety authority, Rappel Conso. These undeclared ingredients could present serious health risks, including allergic reactions, for individuals with milk or egg allergies or intolerances.
NAFDAC stated: "The French authority (Rappel Conso of France) has issued a notice regarding the recall of the Indomie brand Noodles Vegetable Flavour due to the presence of undeclared allergens (milk and eggs), which may pose a significant health risk to consumers with allergies or intolerances."
Although Nigeria maintains a federal ban on the importation of noodles, reducing the likelihood of official entry, the agency highlighted potential risks from unofficial channels. These include smuggling, online purchases, or products brought in by travelers.
To address this, NAFDAC has initiated enhanced surveillance measures across the country to detect and prevent any circulation of the affected product.
Distributors, retailers, and consumers are urged to stay vigilant and refrain from handling, selling, or consuming the recalled Vegetable Flavour Indomie noodles. Anyone in possession of the product should immediately dispose of it.
Suspected sightings or sales of the implicated product should be reported to the nearest NAFDAC office or by calling the hotline 0800-162-3322.
This alert applies specifically to imported versions of the product and does not affect locally manufactured Indomie variants registered and approved for sale in Nigeria.
