Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 general election, has officially defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Obi announced his move on December 31 in Enugu, alongside several prominent political figures from the South-East geopolitical zone.
Speaking at the event, Obi and the South-East leaders said the decision followed months of consultations and strategic discussions. They explained that they had resolved to align with the ADC and work with other opposition leaders nationwide in a bid to challenge what they described as poor governance under the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
